As a HUGE fan of the the Santana Band from 1969-73, I am curious as to where their current state of relations are? I'm not looking for hearsay, innuendo or lurid gossip -- just wondering if they've matured and grown out of whatever petty squabbles that came between them.
I ask this because 1). Michael Shrieve was a strong musical collaborator/partner of Carlos' and Chepito played with the band for some years after the 1972 breakup, yet both have been absent from any sightings with Carlos and in fact, Shrieve, Rolie, and Carabello were seen at the Woodstock DVD Reissue festivities.
2). While there has always been friction between Carlos and Carabello from way back (apparently, Carabello once referred to Carlos as a "hypocrite") was this rift ever resolved?
3). Speaking of Chepito, where is he?! He has legions of fans out there and I'd love to see him put together some type of DVD on percussion instruction or at least a web site for fans. Instead he pops up on YouTube videos playing in obscure places. I remember reading somewhere that he kind of "lost it" and was very bitter, but no further clarification were made.
It's such a shame that a band with such worldwide impact could not put aside whatever differences they once had and make great music again.
