I noticed that Alphonso Johnson moved over to a six string guitar, still he was playing bass lines. Who is the bass player who took over for him?
Was it Gibby Ross the timbalero who played during Chepito's solo. I recall reading the newspaper review the day after this reunion happened, "Grenade explosions came from the timbales." Or something like that the reviewer wrote. One thing about cymbals, I feel that timbaleros should stick to cowbells and timbales, let the trap drummer worry about cymbals.
