Went to the Bill Ortiz show last night and saw something that really warmed my heart. How many time has a bass player drowned out the rest band by playing too loud and seem totally oblivious to it. At last night's record release show at Yoshi's in Oakland, the sound person climbed out of the sound booth, walked on stage, and went up to the bass player and told them to turn it down. After that the sound was perfect. Wish I would see more of that. Don't know why bass players seem to bo so clueless when they are too loud.
As for the show itself, I cannot comment since I am not a fan of the type of music that was played so I do not know if was good or not.
