Gregg's B3 and singing were about as crucial to the Santana Band's stew as Carlos' guitar... Those first four albums were a pinnacle that they never would reach apart, at least for me as a listener. What's more, a lot of it was in their youthful spirit, swagger, the freshness, raw power and hunger in their sound, which affluent 60-year old men can never recapture. We are lucky that they shared that with us once upon a time, and that we have the recordings to go back to.
