I ran into Boz Scaggs at a Brazilian Jazz performance at the SF Jazz Festival a few years back and had the chance to chat w/him briefly. He's flirted with Latin rhythms from time to time. "Call That Love" from his recent album "Dig" is pretty much a straight-up cha-cha and tracks like "Downright Women," "Here To Stay" and "Flames of Love" from those early albums w/Pete & Coke and Chepito & Carabello showed that Boz liked working with Latin percussion. Mel Martin also did some great flute work on those early Boz albums. Boz told he he was hoping to record an album of Brazilian-oriented tunes at some point...
