Hola Santanamigos! I've been away for a little while. I recently posted my pics from my travels to San Francisco to see El Chicano at the 40th Anniversary show at the Avalon. It was great! Freddie, Marcos, Bobby, Jerry & Rudy all put on a great show and made me feel right at home. Special thanks to all the musicians that night who came up to me to introduce themselves, say hello and gave me gifts. It was great! Los Cochinos and Lava Band tore it up that night and made the night even better. I was so honored to meet so many great musicians. Richard Bean, Mio Flores, Al Portillo, Tony Vela, Johnny Rodriguez just to name a few. I had so much fun that night. The night before I had the pleasure of seeing and meeting Puro Bandido with my good friend Bob Sandoval. Richard Segovia blew me away with his timbales! You have to see this man to believe it, he's great. Ron Messina also put on a great show. Ron is a great guy and plays with many groups in the Bay Area, I've seen him with Crossfire who I must say is a great Santana tribute band. I spent Sunday at West Fest which was another adventure all in itself. You have to experience this festival to even understand where I'm coming from, words alone cannot describe it! I had a great time needless to say and enjoyed my trip very much.
This past weekend I spent hanging out with Sal Rodriguez from War and all the musicians. It was great. They were here in Houston for a show at the Woodlands Pavillion. Sal and the guys showed me such a great time. My hats off to them for their dedication and hospitality.
