Billy Cobham and Asere were featured in an Al Jazeera program about music fusion earlier this year.Great ensemble playing and great sound (2 songs were featured).I hope that they go on a worldwide tour sometime soon.
Jose, I'd like to add a few more names of that particular heritage.Even though his own looks might not reflect it Ruben Blades is also of that heritage.He has spoken of his father's origins and I have also seen a photo of his father.Another is saxophonist Carlos Ward (a former John Coltrane former bandmate)who I met in 1977 while he was on tour with BT Express.And finally a fine bassist, Russell Blake who I first heard on Hilton Ruiz' 1986 album "Something Grand" (another great album).
