A fair review Hermnan. I've played the album 3 or 4 times myself and I'd probably agree with most of what you've said. 'Never The Same Again' is not too bad. Shades of Greg Rolie's 'Roots' album in the rhythm track but Carlos' ear for a melody is still evident. And some old licks are definitely being recycled here ('Victory is Won' in 'Canela' for instance). Also, I realy like 'Ah, Sweet Dancer'. Some fine piano and it's sufficiently different from the original which is always a good sign in a cover. But overall it's 67 times better than the last album and who can really complain about the release of new music 43 years into the recording career of a man you can still go see live every year.. Santana fans are a pretty rarified bunch, just ask those Buddy Holly fans....
