Like Queen once sang...I'm slightly going mad...
Etienne, what the hell is wrong with you?
Is it the age (you're even younger than I am) or the love that's blinding you (just joking)?
How on earth can you compare a lacklustre outtakes album like SS with albums like Welcome or Oneness?
I'm totally flabbergasted with your view.
SS mainly has a very flat production, 50% bad song selection, several songs sounding like half finished demos. Welcome is a REAL percussion album all over the place; on SS only Szabo comes close to that.
The album is lacking the Santana Band feel badly.
When I read that Walter Afanasieff was one of the producers, I knew enough. One of the smoothest, cowardly producers around. Klaus Wunderlich and Richard Clayderman admire him a lot.
Someone posted a track of Joe Bonamassa here. Eddy liked it a lot.
So do I. That's the way music should sound like.
Please listen to the latest album by Dr. John: Locked down. Then you'll hear what a good producer can do. Swampy, swinging, funky, moody....GREAT stuff! Produced by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys.
Also people like Jack White, Rick Rubin or Daniel Lanois could create the next Santana Band TOP album, which this compilation certainly isn't.
@ Scott W.......I loved your remarks: "SS is a bit of a snoozer" and especially "not enough meat on the bone".
