For what it's worth......
This month's Uncut gives Shapeshifter a 4 out of 10 rating.
A weak review, not because of the score itself (like I always say, everyone has the right to rate music from their own way of looking at it), but it lacks real info about the tracks and especially the fact that they "define" SS as having the same successful formula as Supernatural its successors.......
Incredible!
They also call it a stockpiled album, which is correct of course.
Even I gave it 6 out of 10, since SS contains a couple of great tracks!!
The subtitle of the review is, in my view, however quite appropriate:
"Something for the faithful".
How reviews can pull your leg.
The same Uncut (mostly a great magazine, I have to admit) gave the new album by Paul Buchanan a 10 out of 10 rating. Paul is the singer of the fantastic band The Blue Nile. I immediately bought the album, but have already brought it back to my dealer. Sheer disappointment.
If you need something to fall asleep to......buy Paul Buchanan's Mid Air CD...
Hail hail pop reviews!!
