Hey Jim, Thanks for sharing your story. Carlos has inspired my life in similar ways, like I imagine he has for many of us on this board.
I disagree with your take on Carlos' attitude and on Shape Shifter, but there's room for that here in my opinion.
I think the vibe he's talking about changing is the one of greed, racism and the other troubles that plague our society. I admire Carlos for continuing to take the stand that he does today, that he's taken for many years.
I think Shape Shifter is a good album, not one of his all time greats, but I like it more and more with repeated listens. I rate it on a par with Blues for Salvador, which was also a good collection of outtakes.
