I'd have been thrilled if he went back to using an old Gibson SG and the P90 pickups, along with a cranked up Fender Twin Reverb. That's the ticket to recapture the best of his original tone. Having he tone back, I can almost guarantee would energize the buried spark that effects how he plays. That old technology is never outdated and neither is the inspiration and energy it can create. .
