Power of Peace

Just got my copy of "Power of Peace" (PoP, no, Soul), a record that comes 39 years too late and at the time could have been called "Inner Secrets". Carlos Santana (70) and Ronald Isley (76) were in the prime of their musical lives then. The songs would have sounded much suppler than what these two old geezers were able to deliver now. Having said that, I am very thankful that they are still here and that they are still willing to share their talents and visions with us. To me this record really is a breath of fresh air if compared to what Santana did over the past ten years or so (even though every record had its moments of bliss). My favourites are, in this order: Botox... er… 'Body Talks', 'Love, Peace, Happiness', 'Gypsy Woman' (is this the final version?), and 'Higher Ground' (great guitar parts, but the rap... I do not understand why that was added). And, despite all the criticisms that we may have, despite the all too well trodden paths, there is some great guitar playing to be heard on this record.
