If smoking isn't a pleasure, why bother?

I've posted this everywhere I could because I really can't find an answer for it.
Long story short, I'm an on and off (male) smoker (who really does enjoy it when it feels normal), and I was diagnosed with auto-immune thyroid disease earlier this year. Since then, I've twice experienced times where my cravings significantly decreased. I don't really get jumpy or get that creepy crawly feeling, and thus smoking doesn't relieve said feeling. If that's happening then there's like no point in smoking...but part of me loves that craving.
Has anyone heard of this before? I got it to come back once upon quitting for like a month and a half, but I wasn't exactly planning on doing so right now (I have a drive to NYC I'm taking later this month and was looking forward to just smokin' in the car and listening to music).
Has anyone heard of this before?
