: Dancers with ballet training are greatly valued by many experienced tango leaders. Classes are an excellent way to meet people who want to learn a variety of steps.
Real tango is a sort of walking meditation. We think of meditation as something that is very personal and alone. Tango is very personal and alone yet at the same time we are sharing intimate feelings of grief, desire, fatigue and higher consciousness with another primate being whos name becomes unimportant. We don't surrender to each other, we each surrender to the space between us. The other persons momentum (love of life) enhances our own connection to life. ( negative or positive ) That is why tanguers's can share tanguera's with out the usual issues of jealousy that burden most relationships. Each dancer is finding their own balance and meeting their own needs. One partner might be crying on the inside while the other is laughing on the outside. This range of possibility is beyond the cultural norm. Hence tango is a sanctuary for those who have a strong desire to live in the present. Good luck walking in Stockton.
