Very interesting Marc, my partner and I agree that this subject has reared its ugly head and now reading your comments and all the links, to now include this new link I found, we are convinced that the Dame was not ill, she had recovered, but was advised not to perform. I defy anyone to prove otherwise. Like the postings below said : What would she have sung ? How would she have been introduced ? What political statement if any would she have said ?
No there Divas from the world of Diva Giants were there - why not ? No Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Pati Labelle and all the other great Black American singers - why not ? It is also true that not everyone is a fan of Mandela, but they all probably asked what was their contribution to the boycott etc etc etc
Bassey should not be there.
