Steve - CD's will not be the way that people buy music in the future, in fact their shelf life may be much shorter than you think. The pace of change is accelerating rapidly as we move unstoppably towards a time when all music will be available almost entirely in downloadable format and CD's (if they still exist) will be an afterthought. Then we will look back fondly on CD's, just as some of us old 'uns look back fondly on cassette tape and vinyl!
The quality of the downloaded music will not be compromised because improvements in technology will ensure that the listening experience will be the best there has ever been. Surely this is what we want isn't it when it comes to listening to a great artist like Shirley. I may be long in the tooth but I love these exciting changes that are happening.
Steve - I really love your idea of us all restraining ourselves from listening to the songs until we all receive our CDs. I have this mental image of us all receiving them at the same time and reverently unwrapping them, then playing the entire album and afterwards coming on here to discuss it. Afraid life ain't like that though Steve.
For the record, having heard only a few of the songs, I find that The Girl From Tiger Bay keeps going round in my head .....
