I smiled at your comment. It will become apparent next Monday when indeed, the order of the day is "Make way for talent"!
For over fifty years the charts around the world have made way for Shirleys special brand of talent...it wont stop now....I shudder to think how Cheryl Coles album went straight to number one, I really question the stats on that one. Shirleys latest album is fresh and new and NOW, the publicity has been unprecedented compared to her last few albums. It is both moving and exciting as THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE ALL BEEN WANTING...AND WE ARE GETTING TO SEE IT AT LAST!
I think of my lovely friend Jean Reade who should have been with us this year to enjoy this momentous occasion, she would have adored it. (BIG HUG TO JAN and AUDREY) I remember as an 18 year old at the front of the stage at The Playhouse Theatre in Edinburgh, falling in love with this exotic creature who sang the thoughts that raced inside my heart. I watched the proms concert..."The Performance Of My Life" and it was like vintage Bassey, I fell in love with her all over again...oh, and it felt bloody fantastic!. Congratulations to all the people who carried Shirley to a new plateau on that Roundhouse stage, you all did her proud. She must have felt amazing afterwards! Yes Philip, you couldn`t have said it better...Monday 9th November...Make way for REAL talent!
