I will never believe that she has waited 60 years to record "Maybe This Time" as a grand farewell and thank you to her fans. She probably declined to record "I Made It Through The Rain" during her peak years at United Artists. These songs are done no favors by her recording them at this stage. Her career will not have a more stunning or moving elegy than "The Girl From Tiger Bay." A cast-off Diane Warren song written for Beyonce does not come close.
Her 'Grand Finale' could have used more spirit and swagger -- like "Almost Like Being In Love" -- so many great songs would have fit the bill: "Nice Work If You Can Get It", "Love Is Here To Stay", " I've Got The World On A String", "You Must Believe In Spring", etc. She has endured for so long this CD should be less solemn and much more celebratory.
That said, we're all on the same side. 'I Owe It All To You' is a wonderful gift that we had no reason to expect from our favorite Dame. No one will argue that point.
