Re: Live in Manchester
Thank you Erick. I remember watching DSB sing How Do You Keep The Music Playing on (I think) a Bruce Forsyth tv special and was blown away by her performance. I rushed out to buy the CD and was shocked that the recording was so poor. I’ve tried listening to this album many times over the years but it really doesn’t get any better. Likewise with Lloyd Webber. As you say, the two Sunset Boulevard songs suit DSB well and after hearing Taylor Swifts “Macavity” from the movie I actually like DSBs version, but like the rest of the album there is no subtlety in the production. Memory is a catastrophe and we’re even treated to an encore; as if once wasn’t enough. I agree with your choice of the best produced later albums and I also enjoy The Show Must Go On.
