Buy some nicotine gum and chew it when you get that obsessive urge to smoke; use it for at least three weeks. Pursue vigorous exercise until you lungs ache. I think the "occasional smokers" posting here are all liars, basking in their closet smoker denial systems, as closet smokers are all highly addicted; you are no different and will never be an occasional smoker, so you have to give up cigarettes completely. You will miss it, maybe every day, but it can be done. Prepare to be miserable for 3-4 months, maybe longer, but you will start feeling better within days, so focus on that. Think of how good it's going to be to feel "real." That is, to achieve your fantasy of being a nonsmoker rather than a spineless one.
