I very rarely get the urge to exceed my usual 3-4 cigarettes on a normal working day unless I'm very stressed out about something.
When I'm working I guess you could say it's somewhat like clockwork because I always have a cigarette before I go in and right after I get off in the parking lot. Also, I will usually have a cigarette while I'm out on my lunch break.
If I'm not working and can't find a good enough reason to go out to the store chances are I probably won't have a cigarette that day. If I do go out I'll usually just have one, maybe two, cigarettes.
