I've considered the fact that if I ever develop a smoking-related illness, the result would essentially be a forced coming-out at possibly the most inopportune of moments. On the other hand, revealing myself as a smoker now means that I'd have to hear all the nagging about potential health problems--probably times two, since it's likely that most people I know would view my coming out as an expression of my dedication to continue smoking. Which it would be, of course.
I also hate doctor's smoking questions. All of the doctors I've seen have me down as a nonsmoker, and if I haven't fooled any of them, they surely haven't said anything to me. Childish, I know, but true.
