I would at least be "in the closet" to your parents, but "come out" to your friends, if that's not too big a problem. Eventually your parents will find out, and when they do, hopefully you will not be financially dependent on them. 
They will get over it, even if they really ARE as old school as you make them out to be.
Are you in any relationship (like a boyfriend) that could be a potential problem if you smoked?? Anyways, interested to know what happens. Keep us posted.
