your paretns can't smell it on you since they are both smokers. I would tell them straight up. If your girlfriend is a smoker, they probably suspect you have joined the club. Once out of the closet, you can all smoke together after a meal or whatever. Your girlfriend would probably enjoy being able to smoke around your parents when she visits as well.

: thanks for the input. i've thought about the
: "getting lazy" with my smoking and
: letting them find out that way. a couple
: weeks ago, i left a pack sitting in my cup
: holder in my car outside, but if they
: noticed, they didn't say anything. besides,
: i think theyll respect it more if i come on
: out on my own.
:
: i need to find a time this week when they're
: both home (and perhaps when they're
: smoking!) to go on and tell them. surely
: they already suspect something. i make no
: effort to hide the smell when i come home
: and i've been smoking or when i'm smoking at
: home while they're gone. i've always
: assumed if they ask why i smell like smoke,
: i could blame it on them! but they haven't
: asked, so i think it's up to me.

: Was in your same boat when I was your age.
: My
: advice, just tell your parents. You are
: right in that they probably already know, or
: suspect, you are smoking. Parents aren't
: stupid or blind. If your gf smokes and they
: know it, then they'll suspect it of you, as
: well...common sense. From my experience, it
: won't be difficult for you to tell them you
: smoke and they'll take it in stride. Keep in
: mind, they will not be happy about it and
: they may try to tell you stop, but at the
: end of the day, they'll understand and
: accept your habit. Don't let it drag out too
: long or it'll cause too much unneeded stress
: on your family. My 2 cents.
