So here is one of my fears people: With this new health care for everyone, if it even takes place (lol, I know), am I gonna have to admit I have been a closet cigarette smoker for MANY years?
If any of you recall, in one or two of my earlier posts I shared how my wife of five years is a rabid health nut and not a fan of smoking at all. It is just not part of her world.
I on the other hand am a relatively light closet smoker of 30 years.
I only smoke a few or so a day, but in the end, when the Sh#t comes down, I will have to admit to a presiding doctor that I smoke or risk being denied coverage... or something similar.... yes?
No?
I realize we have these 'HIPPA' laws, but does my wife have a right to my info?
I would assume she does, as she is part of my direct and immediate family.
This has been worrying me for a while now. The more this whole three-ring-circus gets closer to something actually happening, the more I am freaking out.
I have every intention of quitting smoking eventually, not just because of the wife, but because it just is not working out for my overall lifestyle + smoking into middle age - according to health professionals - is risky. Middle age is where your body loses much of its ability to fight the damages of cigarette smoking --- so it really is a no-brainer.
As much as I love to smoke, I think I would rather not smoke than undergo elevated risk for the many diseases smoking "causes"...
So, fellow closet smokers, please, if any of you know something I don't, or have any valuable insight that I obviously don't have, help me out
.
Thanks everyone!
