I was born in Canada, didn't start living in the States until I was about 30. Started at age 16. I kept it secret from my family for about 6 years, and wasn't very open about it with anyone until after I left college. I quit for about 15 years, then started again in late spring of this year. Once again, I tried to keep it secret, but was immediately busted, so now it's completely in the open.
Obviously, my story (as part of the Canadian experience) goes back about 3 decades, and is probably to old to be useful. That's your call, of course.
