One other thought is that depending on the age, and your thoughts regarding the imprint you would leave on your daughter also present one other option. If your daughter is young, you could just come out with it, and she may not know any difference as in remembering a time when you did not smoke. Although that could lead her to try it.
If you have always taken the anti-stance, but never mentioned your past, you could explain that while you wanted to present a positive image for her, but that you fell back into the habit.
Otherwise, smoking is not a major issue. Yeah, there are health risks, but they do not affect everyone. Look at my grandfather, I know he was smoking as a young adult, but he smoked until he died at nearly 90 with minimal, if any health effects. But others can be affected much differently.
Just something to think about.
