I don't count 50 as old, but I don't see why you'd be concerned with getting hooked at that age either. Unless you plan on living another 50 years, you likely won't have a bit of a problem with smoking.
Now, what the other poster said is true: It is possible for some people to smoke now and then and not get hooked. But at core, a smoking addiction is a chicken-and-egg proposition--if you like smoking, it's difficult to avoid getting hooked, and if you're hooked it's difficult to not enjoy your habit. Imagine tasting a commonly-available dish for the first time and realizing that you love it, and each time you try it after that it seems to taste even better. How likely are you to decide to give it up for good? How likely are you to want to do so?
In the end, people become addicted smokers because smoking gives them real pleasure, and smoking becomes even more pleasurable once you're hooked. I'd have fun with my fetish if I were you, but the choice is obviously yours.
