Robbie,
Western medicine has done little to help me with my allergies and nasal drip other than give me antihistamines.
I got the biggest relief from non-Western remedies. My allergies and nasal aren't gone, but they certainly are better now than were before. And more importantly, I can still smoke without it interfering with my allergies too much.
1. Netie pot -- essentially shooting warm water into your sinuses to help clear them out. Sounds bizarre but really does the trick for me. Google it to learn about the technique.
2. Holistic remedies like stinging nettle or quercetin capsules. Stinging nettle acts as a sort of natural antihistamine. Quercetin acts as an anti-infamatory. Both are available at health food stores like GNC.
3. Acupuncture and accupressure points can target certain areas of the body that may be out of balance.
4. Yoga classes help stretch the body and get all your systems in balance. Was especially helpful for me when I was super sensitive to certain smells (like perfume and cologne, scented soaps, etc). By doing yoga regularly, my sensitivity was gradually reduced.
My desire to keep smoking is what made me seek out other methods for dealing with allergies and nasal drip. Maybe these ideas can help you too.
