Tim,
Thanks for the advice and support. I realize now I really enjoy everything about smoking. The anticipation, putting the cigarette in my mouth and lighting up, the first drag, the rush and relaxation and the blowing out of the inhaled smoke. I still can't believe I am taking it up for real. I can't be addicted at this stage but I can't wait for the next one but have to take it slowly because I am new. It would be great to have some friends to smoke with. I guess I will have to make some new friends because no one I know smokes. I this stage it will be a secret habit for me. I don't anyone would be very impressed to see me smoking at my age but smoking is such a turn on for me at this early stage. I have a full time job so my smoking will be confined to the balcony of my flat at night.

: Dave,
:
: Sounds like you've made up your mind and I'm
: the last one to argue against taking up
: smoking. Koolguy has it right...you'll go
: through stages during your process of
: becoming a smoker, though all won't be
: readily distinct. You're open to becoming a
: smoker so it'll happen because you've worked
: though the hangups associated with the
: habit.
:
: You said you inhaled correctly recently and
: enoyed it. That "buzz" you got
: won't last. You're getting that buzz because
: you're new to smoking. As your body adjusts
: to smoke it'll fade. Don't be alarmed, it's
: normal. You'll find yourself taking deeper
: drags to capture that buzz and it'll work
: for a while. You may even switch up to a
: full flavor cigarette and that'll work for a
: while too. You'll catch that buzz with these
: tactics, temporarily, enjoy it while it
: lasts.
:
: From experience, that buzz fades after you
: become a regular smoker. Well, you'll still
: get it to a degree if you go too long
: between cigarettes, but you won't capture
: the same buzz that you're getting now.
: However, that buzz will be replaced with
: another sensation, and one that a regular
: smoker knows well.
:
: Once a smoker, you'll feel a need for
: something. You'll quickly learn that need is
: for a cigarette. Once you're here, when you
: light up you'll get a feeling that all is
: right in the world when you take that first
: drag. It's hard to explain, but it'll just
: feel right and it'll be as satisfying as
: scratching an itch that's driving you crazy.
: It'll be that aaahhhhh sensation. While the
: buzz will be gone, this new sensation you'll
: feel of needing tos smoke and then
: satisfying that need is something you just
: have to experience to fully understand. It's
: just as good; actually better because you
: really need it. At this point you will
: understand the power of the habit because
: this sensation is that of an addicted
: smoker.
:
: You've made up your mind, you're old enough,
: and you're ready for the transition. All I
: have to say is enjoy it for what it's worth
: because you'll only go though this once.
:
: Keep in mind that these are the phyiscal
: changes. You will also go through some
: psychological changes as you transition into
: a smoker. It'll feel odd and out of place at
: first buying cigarettes, carrying cigarettes
: on you, and planning your smoke breaks.
: You'l lhave times where you may catch a
: glimpse of yourself smoking in the
: reflection of a window and think OMG is that
: me. You'll get used to seeing yourself
: smoking, but it'll catch you off guard at
: first. You will have those times where
: you'll think to yourself "I'm a
: smoker".
:
: I think you're already there, but be
: prepared to accept your new identity and all
: that goes with it. Figure ways to let others
: know you're now smoking so you don't fall
: into the trap of closet smoking. Every
: smoker has been through this and I can tell
: you from experience that it'll be a bigger
: deal to you than it is to others. Just be
: yourself, and if that means being a smoker,
: so be it. You're not alone and you'll
: quickly discover the companionship of fellow
: smokers.
:
: Enjoy!!

: Hi,
:
: I am new to this but have always had a
: strong interest in smoking and cigarettes. I
: am a middle aged single male. Since being 18
: I have tried smoking on an off but never
: kept it up. To everyone who knows me I am a
: non smoker. The interest is kicking in again
: and after finding this site I am at the
: point of trying smoking again. This time I
: want become a smoker - the thought blows me
: away particularly when a lot of people I
: giving it up. It looks like the perfect
: habit. I have really enjoyed the lighting up
: and blowing smoke part when trying it on
: previous occasions. I guess I have a bit of
: a fetish. The guilt and health aspects have
: been a worry in the past. But feel I have
: reached a time in life that I have earned
: the right to enjoy a few simple pleasures.
