ACHIEVE EPIC GLORY
Posted by Mohler on 8/7/2006, 10:30 pm The potluck dinner will get fired up at around 4:30PM. I will be providing hamburgers, gardenburgers and the fixings for each. I am asking that everyone try to bring a salad or side dish to share. If you are traveling in groups to The Explosion a salad or side dish from your group will do. If everyone contributes we will all eat a wonderful meal to power us through the night. If your salad or side dish needs to remain cool please bring a cooler. We will have limited refrigerator and freezer space. I am asking everyone who has a garden at home to bring some vegetables for grilling. It would be really helpful if you could cut them up before you come over. I would like to have a pancake and mimosa brunch on Sunday morning, however I need some help. Does anyone have a plug in pancake grill that we can use? If you have one, please get in contact with me. Everyone who is interested in washing down their pancakes with a refreshing mimosa should bring a bottle of champagne. I will have a bunch of orange juice and if we all bring a bottle of champagne there should be plenty of mimosas to get us ready for the Ten Mile Tide “mimosa me crazy” acoustic brunch set. My wife and sister will be in charge of food at the event so if you have any questions just ask for Tamara or Callie. Dinner and breakfast are the only community meals we will be having. Please bring your own food (lunch and snacks) to enjoy during the day. Also, if you prefer bottled water over tap water you may want to bring your own. I am bringing a ton of beer to share (6 kegs), however we may eventually run out. It will probably be a safe bet to have a personal stash at your campsite. Remember if you bring your own stash to throw the cans and bottles into the recycling and not the trash. The concept behind The Explosion is to have a special, intimate camping event for the musicians and the friends and family of all the musicians. Please come with a festival mindset and be ready to meet new friends and party with old ones. BRING A SWIMSUIT. There is a beautiful pool adjacent to all of the music and the weather is anticipated to be HOT. Bring a blanket or a low back chair, the venue is mostly lawn seating. Bring insect repellent because there are often mosquitoes flying around. Bring costumes, hula-hoops, poi, Frisbees, and everything you can find that lights up and glows. If you are a fire dancer please get in contact with me for special instructions. There will be some psychedelic decor when the sun goes down and having light up and glowing costumes will add to the craziness. Bring instruments for impromptu jamming and Shoestring Strap’s late night jam session. Please do not bring any fireworks! Lighting off fireworks will be the quickest way to get the cops out to shut down the party. Please leave your dogs at home. We love pets but this party is not the place for them. My parents are sending their beloved dog Phoebe over to a friend’s for the evening. Our neighbors have livestock that do not like dogs and it is very important that our neighbors barely notice the 200 of us rocking out to kick ass music. If you smoke please make an effort to put your butts in an ashtray or trashcan, it is very hot and dry and any type of fire will bum everyone out. It is important to me that The Explosion has a very relaxed atmosphere, however, please be respectful of community standards when enjoying your time at the event. The gates for The Explosion open up at 11:00AM and the first band gets started at 12:15PM. Please come out early and support all of the musicians performing. There will be volunteers checking people in and instructing them on where to park. Make sure to tell the volunteer whether you will be staying the night or leaving later that evening. Upon checking in everyone will be given a wristband verifying they are on the guest list and at least 21 years of age. If you are interested in volunteering please get in contact with me ASAP. Volunteers will be invited to The Explosion Pre-Party and be allowed to arrive Friday evening. The Schedule: (Subject to change) Friday, August 18th 5:00PM Volunteer and Musician Arrival Saturday, August 19th 11:00AM Gates Open Sunday, August 20th 10:00AM Mimosa Breakfast I am being careful to keep this party at a reasonable size which will insure that there will be plenty of space to stretch out and freak freely. This email is being sent to everyone who has inquired about The Explosion. The address and directions will be sent out to everyone who has pre-ordered their t-shirt on Friday, August 11th. Directions are not being sent out now because if everyone who has inquired about the event decided to attend there would not be enough room. If you or your friends would like to come to The Explosion please sign up through pay-pal or get in touch with me to make other arrangements. There are only a little over 30 spaces left on the guest list. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please get in touch with me at summerexplosion2006@yahoo.com. I am doing my absolute best to plan the most amazing house festival ever. I look forward to meeting, dancing, and smiling with you all. “One step at a time in the right direction” –KM Chris

We are two weeks away from The Summer Explosion and everything is coming together nicely. One of the neatest things that I have learned while planning this party is how interconnected we all are. Come August 19th this giant extended family will come together for a day and night of dancing, camping, eating, smiling, swimming, and more dancing. This email contains information on what to bring, what not to bring, schedules, etc.
The venue for this party is my parent’s beautiful home located in Granite Bay, which is about 30 miles east of Sacramento, CA. The property is five acres covered with scrub oaks that will provide plenty of shaded camping spots. My parents have been very generous in letting us all use their space for the weekend so please treat it with respect. There will be trashcans and ashtrays set up throughout the venue so please use them. We will be recycling as much as possible and will have an area set for this.
