Monday, I was reminded why I had much rather see a classic film than the junk they are filming these days. A few years ago I watched the original "Fast And Furious" film. I liked it, enjoyed fast cars and thought it was entertaining. I didn't think it was too extreme. Here we are 8 years down the road from the first film to the latest big billed fourth sequel. I popped in the dvd and what do I see? A normal bodied cop jumps through a window, tackles his criminal prey, falls/lands off the side of a building and onto the roof of an automobile and gets up without a scatch. No fear, just macho badbutt. This same "pretty boy" cop slams a rival snobby cops head into a wall one time. Snobby cop ends up with a broken bloody nose and face. Later in the film, big muscular Vin Diesel has pretty boy cop down on the ground, kicks the living daylights out of him, hits him in the face hard multiple times and pretty boy cop gets up, brushes himself off and not one drop of blood or scratch on his face. Gimme a break. There was stunt driving through dirt tunnels little wider than the car itself and looked like they were doing more than 90 in there.
Summing up, just TOTALLY over the top and bombastic!!! They try to portray everyday people as superheros. This ain't Superman or Spiderman. I like action but not to the point of being so far to the right on the scale of believeability. I found very little in this film that I could keep from rolling my eyes at. In the old days, if a guy falls off of a building, you could count on it. That guy has croaked.
