Just kiddin'. Thanks for the 8 minute coffee break. I loved this movie. I think my favorite part was the landing with Roy Flemming bailing out and paddling on the deck of the carrier.
Which got me to thinking about real-life splash downs. We lost Gus Grissom's capsule, for which he was erroneously blamed. This may have been one of the >slaps forehead< "Why didn't we think of that," moments. Had NASA had the foresight to figure a worst case scenario, having to pluck a sinking capsule from the ocean, (i.e. a capsule full of water) they would have used a more powerful helicopter. Had they done that, they could have saved the capsule, albeit waterlogged, but saved it none-the-less. Thank goodness they saved Grissom.
