Was at my dad's house yesterday after the parade. Most of my siblings were there. The TV was on and there he was, Andy Griffith in uniform. Nope, not TAGS, I wasn't sure what show it was but he was in a black/dark blue police officer's uniform and cap. It became apparent he was not what he was dressed up to be. A detective maybe? What show was this? The time period, indicated by cars and clothing was early to mid-70's, or thereabouts. The there he was DANO! as in "Book 'im Dano!". It was a Hawaii 5-O episode with Andy, a guest star. Some of his post TAGS work. He played half of a married couple who were grifters who grifted the wrong guy, a mobster in Hawaii. Steve McGarrett and crew him and his wife alive.
Then after that was an Episode of Mod Squad, with Andy playing a guest roll as well. I wasn't paying close attention to the show, but glanced up to see Andy non-thee-less
After that, G.P.U.S.M.C, came on the air. I couldn't stick around long enough to see if it was "Opie Joins the Marines" episode or not. I suspect this was Dad's local station's (RF not cable) tribute to Andy Griffith.
It was nice that someone at the station thought enough of Andy's work to show him in other rolls than Andy Taylor and Ben Matlock.
Andy, thanks for the memories
"Good night and I appreciate it."
Pierre.
