Stumbled on James Best last night on Amazon in a movie titled, 'Man On the Prowl', from 1957. After seven years of bit parts, it was Best's first starring role and let me tell you, he was no Jim Lindsey! While having his car serviced, he becomes infatuated with the wife of the garage owner and returns later to drop a car engine on the poor guy. He also does away with two other people who interfere with his plans to get the wife and the garage business, one being his own mother! Typical drive-in movie fare for the time, Mayberry After Midnight would more than likely give it one-and-a-half clovers. Goober would love it.
