While it is yet another "mad scientist" and his experiments plot, I enjoyed it thoroughly! Otto Kruger was excellent as the mad doctor! Man, he had some facial expressions and glances that just make the evil shine through! It also features Rondo Hatton as the resident sidekick/tough guy. Amelita Ward is charming as the damsel in distress and Phil Brown is serviceable as her hero/beau. Clocks in at 1hr and 3min of runtime. Short, sweet and to the point!
I also watched "The Monster And The Girl" (1941). I liked it way less. Standard "human brain into an ape" fare with no stand out actors other than George Zucco. It does tally a higher rating on IMDB than Jungle Captive but I don't see it.
