Rover 216 SLi Radio Security code issue

Hi
I have a Rover 216Sli which is going fine. The other week I had the batter replaced and of course now need to reset the security code. I have the code for the radio but unfortunately the display has had it so I am unable to see the digits that I'm entering. Now I know that you need to hit the scan button to get to the digit you enter so if I need to enter '0' is this the first or last. I mean does the sequence go
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
OR
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0
Hope this makes sense. The other option is now to try and get a new display fitted. Any help much appreciated
