I feel your pain my friend, the similar problem has been occuring with my 2003 Freelander, it finally stopped running last week and I was told my engine was shot. I was told I needed a new one with the cost of $7,400. And to add salt to the wound Landrover does not have any engines they would have to contact the manufacturer and require special permission? The final verdict from a British Motor specialist these engines have been known for dropping cylinder liners and he suggested to go on line to find similar cases or any actions pending against landrover. I found one in Australia that you might want to contact.
