My 2003 Disco 4.6L has developed some oil leaks at around 75K miles. The dealer mechanic says it is the pan gasket but after my own investigation I highly doubt it. I have thoroughly cleaned as much of the engine as I can reach from underneath and after running is for a day here are my observations.
1.The oil seems to come from the front of the engine, maybe the timing chain cover.
2.Base of head area on each rear corner of motor. The dealer did the valve cover gaskets right before warranty ran out at 60K.
It is not a lot, but enough to keep the bottom the pan wet and lots of ugly drips on my driveway. My next idea is to pull the motor and reseal everything instead of chasing a bunch of leaks. Before I make such a drastic move maybe someone could inform me of some of the likely leak spots
