Chad -- If you haven't owned a Land Rover before, you are definitely missing out. They are aren't perfect but they are great fun and an excellent ride. If reliability is your primary goal, buy a Honda. If you want something out of the ordinary, with a high degree of comfort (and reasonable maintenance) get an LR3.
I have had two Discovery's over the years and have been happy with both of them. I now have a Defender, a Discovery and a Freelander. In terms of value, you can get a great deal on a 2006 LR3. Depreciation on Land Rovers is considerable.
