distibutor

Ok my 1988 rover stopped having spark so i bought another distibutor and this one has three plugs out of it/instead of the two that are on the original.Can i still hook it up and any idea of what plugs i would use on the one with three.I i beleive on the one with two one goes to ignition and one to the coil but im not sure which is which with the one with three
