Gents the in line thermostat which comes onto your lower rad hose causes a lot of issues including lack of coolant circulation which in turn causes the fans not to come on and also excess pressure build up in the coolant system which then fails the rubber gaskets.
Regularly check the temp differences between your top and bottom rad hoses. they should not be the same but they should not be too drastic a difference as this is a clear sign of the thermostat not opening.ONLY DO THIS CHECK WHEN THE CAR IS HOT AND TAKE CARE NOT TO BURN YOURSELF ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD.Normally the bottom hose will be warm whilst the top is hot.If the bottom hose is cold then you do not have circulation and the inline thermostat needs changing it will set you back about £30 at the dealers. Please dont ignore the other responses as they are just as genuine as this one
Thanks
