I've tried hard to dig "Stories Often Told", but I find myself only liking about 1/4 of the disc. Too often it sounds like Greg Keelor songs are being played by the Sadies. The Keelor-like, grumpy, maudlin dirges betray the Sadies' fire and intensity. As live bands go, they are unbeatable, but I don't see most of the new album being an interesting live set. They ought to ditch the Blue Rodeo guys and go hang out with Andre Williams again.
