Posted by SexySadie on January 9, 2004, 7:16 am, in reply to "Rick White, The Sadies and Greg Keelor Form Supergroup" THE UNINTENDED Outer space and the desert sands aren't as far apart as they seem: both offer humbling evidence of nature's vast expanse, and without the sun, they're two ideal places to go to freeze your ass off. And, oh yeah, both inspire quality stoner rock. So it's not surprising that, after a series of musical and artistic contributions to each others' records, Elevator astral traveller Rick White, twang titans The Sadies and Blue Rodeo's Greg Keelor would fortify their inner spliff-circle into a full-on drugstore-cowboy campfire. As always, White's wobbly voice plays like the inner monologue for a particularly nasty 'shrooming experience, but The Sadies' expert attention to atmosphere -- vividly enhanced by Dallas Good's Piper at the Gates of Dawn-style organ grinding -- steers the herd away from Elevator's claustrophobic psych-sludge to more ghostly environs. As all-star collaborations go, The Unintended is anything but unnatural. SB
