Posted by melissa bea on May 11, 2004, 12:26 am, in reply to "She said yes" Now with the sun behind me, we are on our way back home to bohemia. Back to the rush and the push of the big city, studio ready steady go, and a new top secret mission a la jane bond with U of C. Bet cha thought jane was only a bar... Friday, dressed to kill in psychededelia, hair perfect and sprayed, cats eyes and fish nets, downtown toronto. The energy of that city violent and heavy all around me. We stand like belles on the corner, waiting for the man. Miss Smith comments that the dames here wear denim different - their style trashy without any soin. "Tall Sugh," I say, "Crazy being back!" We hit the Horseshoe, some little chick with pig tails walks by all miffed, I think I hear her say, "You haven't got a chance." And we walk through the door, Nobody I know anymore, but everyone's staring at us. Bar tender catches my eye, we order Stong bows - god they don't have stong bow in Quebec. I down mine in all of 1o minutes, 6 hours on the road can make a girl so thirsty. I am so excited - and I can hear the begining of the show... I can't see anything. We find a perfect table situation, I am wild as finally I can just sit in the dark looking beautiful and watch them play. I hoot and whistle, giggling with my girls, we take turns smoking in the front room, after I get told I may not smoke where I'm at. Montreal's a smokin' city after all. Rob's a little edgy, but comfortable enough in his seat drinkin his beer. I am sending my love love love, try not to notice that when I;m distracted the music becomes distorted, so I hoot and hollar, and get the crowd clapping. As soon as it starts the band is ending with encore, I haven't even started myself, and Sugh says "Wanna dance?" We shimmy up the stage, I spot a real gone gal with glasses like Nana. Sugh motors through right to the front, no discression, Sugh is terribly forward and is all bones about it. So there I am, standing, trying to keep time, rather difficult to dance to, A little tricky to dig that beat, but I love em still, and we watch. And then they played a brand new song, one just wrote... too bad I couldn't hear anyof it. The sound is lousy by the stage, if I was making faces, well, I was trying to listen. None the less, I couldn;t gauge the flavour, nor the lyrics, too bad I'd like to know what they are thinking. Then they were gone. So I sat down with Sugh on one arm and Miss Smith on the other. Talk about love in stereo with a girl on either side.... Well then I said what I came to say. We do sincerely hope you'll visit the next time ya'll in our town. Robert is impatient, but not aggravated, Sugh and Miss Smith look at me in earnest. "Got it!" We are quietly triumphant. "On the cheek." I whisper. They silently gush. We all leave - and I am on cloud 9. Thank you for the soundtrack boys. C'est manifique! Bea good. A la prochaine mes cheries, Melissa Bea xo
