Breakage can occur above or below the surface.
It feels like stubble.
New growth hair has a nice tappered pointed tip.
Shaved or cut hair is blunt.
Broken hair is frayed. look at your hair brush it is full of broken hair.
If you are to look at a wax strip a telogen hair has a ball of dried sheath on it.
A anagen or catagen hair has a sheath on it.
A broken hair is irregular or frayed.
