I also have a square reader for my phone this is what I do. I have a bottle of purel and I purel my hands and offer them a pump as well (very easy and 100% of the time they say thanks) then I swipe card and I also keep a stylus with my square reader and have them use that as well. I keep alcohol wipes and wipe my phone down between clients also. Simple and no hard feelings.
As far as no shows and last minute cancels I can usually keep this at bay by doing a 48hr text confirmation asking them to please confirm (give them a time to confirm by) or if they need to cancel/reschedule please do so by (give them a time)
I only had one client who was nortorious for last minute reschedules however Lori gave me some great advice with her and now I just don't book her in advance I just text her in the 4.5 week time frame to set an appt up and that has worked perfect.
