Hi Everyone! What a great message board!
I am in the process of opening up my own Waxing studio with 2 rooms/ 4 estheticians.
I plan to be open 7 days a week. My only competitor is the European Wax Center, but I'm really not to concerned since i believe they have that dr. office type setting and not that intimate environment..I feel is necessary when having a brazilian done. Other salon spas offer a variety of other services and waxes seem a little higher.
When I was in vegas i liked how I could just go to a wax place where they only focused on waxing and got out in 20 min, this place charged 55 and up and the esthetician was awesome! It gave me the idea to open my own studio.
After reading some post here...really has me thinking. My goal is to have estheticians do two brazilians in an hour. All estheticians will be hourly pay for 90 days and then 30% comm. after 90days with bonuses and comm. on products. Is this reasonable? I just don't see how an esthetician should make 40% and up, if the owners are taking care of everything to provide them with a job. We are very nice owners and want our estheticians to be treated like family and enjoy their working environment, but we just dont see how we would survive as business owners if we pay anymore at this time.
Any thoughts/ ideas on this is greatly appreciated! Also, I always thought...absolutely not going to offer the hard wax since I had nothing but bad experiences with that. Once in AZ at EWC (the girl had it all over and even messed up my bra) 2 time...underarms wouldnt take it and therefore took alot longer..i had to finally ask her to use the softwax. 3rd time was the worst..i felt as if my skin was being ripped off! I'm up for making one last attempt from this brand just incase its requested by clients.
