Posted by Raffy Raffy here... Hmmm... it seems that the 2006 western pacific typhoon season has finally kicked off with the development of soon-to-be tropical storm Chanthu (and eventually Typhoon Chanthu). This is a great news for all those who are waiting for the onset of the rainy season(including ME..hehe), especially now that we are in the climax of the summer time... It's really so hot here in the Philippines, with temperatures soaring to the upper 30's (in degrees celsius). But for some, this will serve as a warning since this will be the beginning of a series of storms and tropical systems that will affect our country. Another important emphasis is how will the mild La Niņa phenomenon affect our country's weather in the coming months. I just hope that our fellow Filipinos will heed the call of evacuation if deemed necessary (in times of typhoon approach or effect)so as to minimize or avoid (as much as possible) the possible disastrous/catatrophic effects of typhoons. And I just hope also that PAGASA will not be stupid enough to issue correct bulletins and informations (hehehe.. Anyway, I just want to know michael f this system will affect Manila... How high is the possibility that this sytem will pass very close or over the Metropolitan area? What will be its strength by the time it does so? In your opinion, how many storms/typhoons will form this month? next month> for the whole 2006 season? I guess these are all for now... Just keep in touch michael... Raffy PS: By the way, Im here in Manila. Im attending my summer class now in UP Diliman. That's the reason why I asked you if the typhoon will pass close to Manila so I can have at least an experience of it or if Im lucky, I'll have the opportunity to write a storm chase account about it... hehehe... this will be my first time to do so if ever the storm will pass by Manila..
